Monroe, LA (December 15, 2022) – A pedestrian accident took place in the Monroe area that left one woman with injuries. On December 9, officers with the Monroe Police Department responded to the scene of a traffic accident on 2nd Street.
According to law enforcement, a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 2nd Street and Winnsboro Road. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident without stopping.
The female pedestrian suffered significant injuries in the crash. She was located at the scene unconscious and suffering from severe injuries to her head and lower back area. The victim was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
As the police department was investigating the accident, the driver of the vehicle returned to the scene. The driver admitted that he freaked out as a result of the accident and fled the scene. The driver was taken into custody for a hit-and-run driving charge.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
