Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents in Louisiana

undefinedIn 2021, nearly 1000 people died as a result of auto collisions in the state of Louisiana. The total number of deaths is a record that surpasses the previous one that was set in 2007. Year after year, we continue to see innocent people die in crashes across the state.

There are several factors that contribute to the high number of fatal car accidents in Louisiana. For one, the state has a large rural population which means there are more opportunities for accidents to occur. Second, Louisiana has a higher than average number of drunk drivers on the roads. Alcohol-related accidents take the lives of 4.64 people per 100,000 in the state.

In addition to drunk driving, distractions, drowsy driving, and speeding are other leading factors. If you have lost a loved one due to someone else's negligence, contact a wrongful death lawyer in Ouachita Parish to learn more about your legal rights and options.
