Rayville, LA – Two Children Lose Lives in Truck Wreck on Highway 42

Rayville, LA (August 16, 2023) – The Louisiana State Police responded to the scene of a major accident that took place in Rayville. The crash was reported at around 7:00 a.m. on August 14.

According to reports, 43-year-old Kasey Thompson was driving on Highway 42 during the morning hours. As their vehicle began to slow down in order to turn left, it was rear-ended by a semi-truck. The impact of the crash caused the car to burst into flame.

Two children in the sedan, identified as a 7-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy, both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Thompson and the front seat passenger were both transported to area hospitals for emergency care.

The driver of the semi-truck, 70-year-old James Barnes, was not injured.

The accident is being investigated.
