Calhoun, LA (January 20, 2023) – A traffic accident that took place in Calhoun led to one person being arrested as several victims were transported to area hospitals with injuries.
On January 19, the West Monroe Police Department responded to the scene of an accident that occurred on Griggs Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that at around 1 p.m., the police department attempted to stop a vehicle that was driven by an individual who had multiple warrants out of the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office, the US Marshall’s Office, and the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Aubrey Blaine Powell, refused to stop. As a result, he led the police on a high-speed chase as the vehicle traveled through Griggs Road, it became involved in a collision.
Three people were hurt as a result of the accident. The victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care.
Powell was taken into police custody after the accident and faces numerous charges.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
