Swartz, LA (July 4, 2023) – A pedestrian accident reported in the Swartz area claimed the life of 34-year-old Demetria Cooks of Rayville, Louisiana.
At around 12:30 a.m. on July 3, the Louisiana State Police from Troop F responded to the scene of a motor vehicle wreck on Louisiana State Highway 139.
Police investigations revealed a northbound 2023 Toyota Crown struck Cooks on the highway near Luke Drive. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital to treat serious injuries. LSP confirmed that she later passed away from her injuries. No other injuries were reported in this accident. The crash remains under investigation.
