West Monroe, LA (August 9, 2024) – The West Monroe Police Department confirmed that 62-year-old Carla Wollerson lost her life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred on Tuesday morning, August 6.
Local news sources show that at around 10:00 a.m., 59-year-old David Neighbors was driving southbound on Thomas Road in a 2016 Toyota Camry. For unknown reasons, his vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle then went down an embankment on the side of the road. The vehicle entered Interstate 20 and collided with a Chrysler 300. The Toyota then continued forward and struck a median barrier. After becoming disabled in the roadway, the Chrysler 300 was struck by an 18-wheeler. The driver of the Chrysler, later identified as Wollerson, sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbors was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
